Our Story

A vision for better building

Dan Connolly and Cory Bailey joined forces to create a construction firm that thinks outside the box. BLOCK was born from a simple vision: to create a place where the industry’s top talent wants to work and where clients feel like true partners. Today, our growth is a shared journey between our team, our clients, and our community.

WHO WE ARE

BLOCK Builders, Inc. is a full-service construction management firm and builder servicing communities throughout the Northeast (MA, RI, CT, NH, VT, ME, Upstate NY). At BLOCK, we believe that successful projects are a byproduct of building relationships with clients, trade partners, and project stakeholders that are based on trust, honesty, and collaboration.

Our philosophy is that every person on the team is vital to the success of the project, from our client to the architect, to the laborer in the field. We treat everyone the same – with respect. The experience and passion our team brings to each project will foster an effective culture on any job site.

The partners behind BLOCK have a long history of delivering high-quality projects for their clients. In 2021, Dan Connolly and Cory Bailey joined forces to formally create a construction management firm that would think outside the box to provide best-in-class service to its clients.

BLOCK Builders was formed to support a vision where the top talent within the construction industry would want to work, clients and network partners would validate that the services provided were unparallel to the competition, and the growth and direction of the company would be shared by employees and clients.

Dan Connolly

President & Co-Founder

Dan Connolly is the President and Co-Founder of BLOCK, bringing over 20 years of construction experience across a diverse range of sectors including life sciences, institutional, commercial, multi-family, and high-rise construction. With a background rooted in both field experience and construction management, Dan leads the organization with a hands-on, detail-driven approach to project delivery.

Dan has successfully overseen a wide range of complex projects, including ground-up developments, high-end tenant interiors, and renovations in highly occupied and logistically challenging environments. His portfolio includes large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, advanced laboratory and office fit-outs, and technically demanding projects requiring precise coordination of structural and MEP systems.

Known for his leadership, strategic thinking, and commitment to excellence, Dan works closely with clients and project teams to ensure every project aligns with client goals, schedule, and budget. He has a strong track record of navigating complex challenges—ranging from automated parking systems to high-end renovations in active environments—while consistently delivering successful outcomes.

As President, Dan is deeply involved in guiding company strategy, supporting project teams, and maintaining BLOCK’s reputation for quality and reliability. He is committed to fostering strong relationships, developing talent within the organization, and delivering results that consistently exceed client expectations.

When Dan is not leading the team at BLOCK, he is probably coaching either his son Danny or daughter Lucy’s youth soccer teams. When the family is not on a ballfield Dan, his wife Marissa, and the kids will typically head to Maine to spend time on the lake, hiking, golfing, or skiing – they love to be outdoors.

Cory Bailey

Vice President of Business Development & Co-Founder

Cory Bailey is the Vice President of Business Development and a Partner at BLOCK, bringing over 20 years of experience leading teams, building relationships, and driving growth across both higher education and the private sector. Known for his energy, competitive mindset, and ability to connect with people, Cory plays a key role in expanding BLOCK’s reach and creating new opportunities for the firm.

A natural leader and communicator, Cory thrives on building strong partnerships and turning connections into long-term business relationships. He was instrumental in launching and growing BLOCK, helping to develop strategic networks and identify new market opportunities.

Before joining BLOCK, Cory built a highly successful career in collegiate athletics, where he led nationally ranked football programs, recruited and developed top talent, and mentored student-athletes both on and off the field. That experience continues to shape his leadership style today—focused on accountability, teamwork, and bringing out the best in people.

At BLOCK, Cory brings that same passion and drive to every interaction. Whether he’s building relationships, supporting clients, or helping grow the team, he is committed to creating a culture rooted in trust, collaboration, and long-term success.

Outside of building relationships at BLOCK, Cory and his wife Lisa are proudly supporting their four daughters, Olivia, Stella, Fiona, and Charlotte. This requires a lot of travel and time spent on a court or at a swimming pool. Beyond that, you can probably find the Bailey Family in Hawaii chasing the ultimate experience of scuba diving with a humpback whale or whale shark!

OUR CORE VALUES

These core values guide our decision-making, fuel our “work hard, play hard” culture, and ensure we remain the Northeast’s most trusted partner in construction management.

Built on Relationships

Make every decision with the intention to create the best possible relationship with not only our clients, but with co-workers, trade partners, consultants, and the community. Our reputation depends on all relationships, and we will not jeopardize or take any relationship for granted. Reputation is everything – it’s not how we see ourselves – it’s how everyone else does.

Continue the Relationship

Don’t just complete the project and disappear. Put as much effort into continuing the relationship as you did when building it. Stay relevant with our partners and check in frequently. This shows we care.

Take Complete Ownership

Own everything. Own the issue, own the mistake, and own the victory. Take complete responsibility for everything you are a part of; use autonomy to make decisions and act with purpose. Work everything across the goal line until finished and always do the right thing. Never point the finger. Help your co-workers, our clients, and trade partners instead of casting blame. Put in the effort and help those around you grow. Be proud of everything you do!

Act & Communicate with Urgency

Don’t wait and react – be proactive and quick to respond. Show importance with every response and move quickly to proactively manage expectations and timeframes. Be sure to manage expectations and honor our commitments. Do not wait until the last minute to communicate surprises. Be clear, concise, get to the point, and ensure the other party comprehends.

Plan the Work and Work the Plan

Plan your work and then execute the plan to perfection. Understand that the plan can change and there are always surprises in construction. Hit reset and create a new adapted plan and then work it to completion. Know the details better than everyone else, anticipate what could impact the plan, and be sure to manage expectations and honor commitments.

THOSE WHO MAKE IT HAPPEN

We have a deep bench of talent, led by some of the industry’s best. Meet our Senior Leadership Team.

Chris Glynn

Project Executive

Chris is a Project Executive at BLOCK with over 15 years of construction experience spanning life sciences, institutional, commercial, multi-family, and higher education sectors. Though Chris holds a master’s degree in construction management, his path into the industry began in the field, working as a construction laborer before transitioning into an operations APM role and building a career defined by growth, grit, and a genuine passion for the work.

Chris has earned a reputation for thriving on high-pressure projects with demanding schedules, where his focus and ability to deliver under tight deadlines consistently set him apart. His project experience includes ground-up developments, high-end tenant interiors, and technically demanding scopes where careful trade sequencing and MEP coordination are critical to success. Whether managing the complexities of occupied and logistically challenging renovations or keeping larger ground-up projects moving to completion, Chris brings a focused, results-driven approach to every job.

Central to Chris’s approach is the conviction that open communication and collaborative problem-solving are what make a project successful. He firmly believes that the earlier a project issue is identified and the team begins working towards a solution, the stronger the outcome will be. It is a philosophy that has produced consistent results throughout his career.

When he is not on a jobsite or in the office, Chris stays busy at home with his wife Ashley and their two kids, Colette and Evan. Between gymnastics, skating, and whatever sport the kids are eager to try next, the weekends fill up fast. When they can, the family likes to get to the beach in Falmouth on summer weekends, and Chris has his sights set on getting everyone on skis before too long.
