Our APPROACH
Planning the work, working the plan
We don’t just price drawings; we solve problems. By engaging early in preconstruction and utilizing industry-leading tech like Procore, we identify risks before they hit the field. From value engineering to seamless closeouts, our process is built on transparency, urgency, and a relentless focus on your project’s “why.”
THE BLOCK BLUEPRINT:
Strategy, Synergy & Success
At BLOCK Builders, our approach is rooted in understanding your “why.” We believe that a project’s success is determined long before the first shovel hits the dirt. By merging technical expertise with a collaborative spirit, we add value at every milestone—from initial conceptual budgeting to the final handshake at closeout. Our team digs into the details early to mitigate risk, protect your budget, and ensure that the finished space isn’t just high-quality, but a true reflection of your vision.
HOW WE
DO OUR JOB
We don’t just build projects;
we build the plan to ensure they excel.
Preconstruction: Setting the Standard
Preconstruction is the heartbeat of a successful build. We don’t wait for the field to solve problems; we solve them on paper. By involving our project managers and superintendents early, we ensure a seamless handover and a complete understanding of the budget and constructability before mobilization.
Value Engineering: Maximizing Every Dollar
We don’t just “price up” options; we hunt for alternatives. Our team reviews market conditions, material availability, and performance to present cost-saving solutions that never compromise quality.
Relationships with Trade Partners
Our “Built on Relationships” philosophy extends to our subcontractors. We curate a bid list of local, qualified partners who share our commitment to quality. Once awarded, they aren’t just “vendors”—they are integral team members who collaborate to solve problems in real-time.
Technology-Driven Transparency
We utilize Procore to keep the field and the office in perfect sync. This cloud-based platform provides our clients with:
A Clean Closeout
The finish line is as important as the starting blocks. We start the closeout process early to ensure a smooth transition. From comprehensive QA/QC to end-user equipment training, we don’t disappear once the dust settles—we stay to ensure your team is ready for day one.
CORE
VALUES
Values You Can Build On
At BLOCK, we believe that the how is just as important as the what. Our Core Values serve as our roadmap for every project, ensuring that our clients, trade partners, and employees are always moving in the same direction. When you work with BLOCK, you are partnering with a team committed to these five principles of excellence.
Built on Relationships
Make every decision with the intention to create the best possible relationship with not only our clients, but with co-workers, trade partners, consultants, and the community. Our reputation depends on all relationships, and we will not jeopardize or take any relationship for granted. Reputation is everything – it’s not how we see ourselves – it’s how everyone else does.
Continue the Relationship
Don’t just complete the project and disappear. Put as much effort into continuing the relationship as you did when building it. Stay relevant with our partners and check in frequently. This shows we care.
Take Complete Ownership
Own everything. Own the issue, own the mistake, and own the victory. Take complete responsibility for everything you are a part of; use autonomy to make decisions and act with purpose. Work everything across the goal line until finished and always do the right thing. Never point the finger. Help your co-workers, our clients, and trade partners instead of casting blame. Put in the effort and help those around you grow. Be proud of everything you do!
Act & Communicate with Urgency
Don’t wait and react – be proactive and quick to respond. Show importance with every response and move quickly to proactively manage expectations and timeframes. Be sure to manage expectations and honor our commitments. Do not wait until the last minute to communicate surprises. Be clear, concise, get to the point, and ensure the other party comprehends.
Plan the Work and Work the Plan
Plan your work and then execute the plan to perfection. Understand that the plan can change and there are always surprises in construction. Hit reset and create a new adapted plan and then work it to completion. Know the details better than everyone else, anticipate what could impact the plan, and be sure to manage expectations and honor commitments.
