TEAM CULTURE

Safety first, family always

At BLOCK, our culture is built on the belief that every team member should go home exactly as they arrived. But we go beyond the checklist—we’re a “work hard, play hard” family that empowers our people to take complete ownership. From hands-on safety education to a supportive environment where we celebrate our victories together, we foster a community where top talent feels at home and every individual is set up to succeed.

A Team Built
for the Long Haul

A Foundation of Expertise

At BLOCK, we don’t just hire for roles; we curate a team of the industry’s top talent. Our strength lies in a collective history of delivering complex projects across the Northeast, bringing decades of deep-rooted expertise to every job site. We’ve traded the corporate silos of traditional firms for a flat, collaborative structure where seasoned veterans and rising stars work side-by-side. This wealth of experience allows us to navigate the most challenging project constraints with the confidence that only comes from years in the trenches together.

The Power of a Tight-Knit Team

We are a family-first firm that believes the best work happens when people truly know and trust one another. That “tight-knit” feeling isn’t just a buzzword here—it’s our competitive advantage. By fostering an environment of complete ownership and mutual support, we’ve built a culture where no one is left on an island. Whether we are solving a constructability conflict in the office or managing a complex pour in the field, we operate as a single unit. At BLOCK, we don’t just back the project; we back each other.

Work Hard, Play Hard

While we are relentless when it comes to project execution, we are just as intentional about celebrating our victories. We believe that a team that plays together, stays together. From our legendary holiday parties and summer retreats to spontaneous team outings and special events, we make sure to hit “reset” and enjoy the community we’ve built. This “work hard, play hard” spirit is the heartbeat of our company, ensuring that while the stakes are high on the job site, the atmosphere remains supportive, energetic, and—most importantly—fun.

Our team. Our values.
We are Block.

Built on Relationships

Make every decision with the intention to create the best possible relationship with not only our clients, but with co-workers, trade partners, consultants, and the community.  Our reputation depends on all relationships, and we will not jeopardize or take any relationship for granted. Reputation is everything – it’s not how we see ourselves – it’s how everyone else does.

Matt Rose

Director of Field Operations

What excites me about working at BLOCK is the loyalty from leadership to stay true to our mission and core values. Built on relationships is a creed we live by. Seeing the consistent growth as a company and development of our projects teams while keeping our culture intact has been so exciting to witness. Resulting in larger more complicated opportunities and projects. The BLOCK name is recognized as a true player in the industry. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this team!

Continue the Relationship

Don’t just complete the project and disappear.  Put as much effort into continuing the relationship as you did when building it.  Stay relevant with our partners and check in frequently.  This shows we care.

Chris Glynn

Project Executive
What attracted me to joining the BLOCK team was the opportunity to help the company and its employees grow. It’s exciting to be a part of BLOCK’s continued rise in the industry and to have the chance to work in a leadership role. Helping this young, talented team develop professionally is something I’m really enjoying.

Cinzia Bishop

Controller
I firmly believe in focusing on achieving the best possible outcomes for our clients and project stakeholders. When it became apparent that the leadership at BLOCK held those same values, it felt like a perfect fit. I’m excited to be a part of a growing company and collaborate with the team.

Liza Clark

Estimator and Assistant Project Manager

I started at Block as an intern, since then, I’ve been given incredible opportunities to learn and grow with the company. I’ve taken on different roles and responsibilities that have really helped jump start my career. Everyone here is dedicated and truly cares about the company’s success. It’s clear how the “Built on Relationships” attitude reflects on client and trade partner connections. It’s amazing to see how far Block has come in a few short years and I’m excited to continue to push it forward with my team.

Take Complete Ownership

Own everything.  Own the issue, own the mistake, and own the victory.  Take complete responsibility for everything you are a part of; use autonomy to make decisions and act with purpose.  Work everything across the goal line until finished and always do the right thing.  Never point the finger.  Help your co-workers, our clients, and trade partners instead of casting blame.  Put in the effort and help those around you grow.  Be proud of everything you do!

Yerko Vega

Project Manager

Teamwork and collaboration are concepts that are truly meaningful here. Members of the team are always willing to help solve problems and offer their perspective on the intricacies of any project. It’s rewarding to work in an organization where everyone from the top-down is invested in the project outcomes and their employee’s careers.

Act & Communicate with Urgency

Don’t wait and react – be proactive and quick to respond.  Show importance with every response and move quickly to proactively manage expectations and timeframes.  Be sure to manage expectations and honor our commitments.  Do not wait until the last minute to communicate surprises.  Be clear, concise, get to the point, and ensure the other party comprehends.

Mike Halpin

Superintendent

At BLOCK, being built on relationships isn’t just a motto—it’s something I’ve experienced every day. Even after five years, I still enjoy working here because of the strong team culture, trust, and the pride we take in every project. It’s more than just construction—it’s about the people we build with and the relationships we create along the way.

Plan the Work & Work the Plan

Plan your work and then execute the plan to perfection. Understand that the plan can change and there are always surprises in construction. Hit reset and create a new adapted plan and then work it to completion. Know the details better than everyone else, anticipate what could impact the plan, and be sure to manage expectations and honor commitments.

Brian Callery

Assistant Superintendent

Why BLOCK? The culture here is strong and feel more like family than a collection of coworkers. Team members are happy to collaborate, brainstorm together and share in each other’s success. From preconstruction planning, to reviewing drawings to going over issues in the field; the BLOCK team is willing to help.
